Grab your opportunity to see your poem in print. Craft your poem and enter it for consideration by our judges, renowned New Zealand poets Paula Green and Emily Dobson.
Entries are invited from 1 July and close at 4pm on Friday, 14 August. Winners will be notified on Friday, 28 August and invited to perform their poem at Wardini Books’ National Poetry Day events.
Entry details: Age categories: 5 – 7 years, 8 – 10 years, 11 – 13 years, judged by Paula Green and 13 – 18 years and adult categories, judged by Emily Dobson. Entry forms are available in store at Wardini Books, 16 Te Mata Road, Havelock North from 1 July. Winning poems will be published in The Village Press and kids’ poems online at Poetry Box, a New Zealand poetry page for children, run by Paula Green. Winners will also receive a bag of books. The competition is open to anyone in Hawke’s Bay.

Wardini’s Magical Rhythm and Rhymes
Join us for a bit of after school fun where Wardini, Lou and friends will combine children’s poetry readings and magic to celebrate National Poetry Day. Most suited to children aged 3 and up.
