Top Coaches Lead Winter Sports

With the 2019 winter sports season almost upon us, Woodford House is proud to announce our coaching appointments for the Senior Premier Netball, 1st XI Hockey and 1st XI Football teams.

Senior Premier Netball 2019

Our 2019 Senior Premier team will be lead by dual Head Coaches Lisa Tod and Briar Chalmers. The combination of experience that this pair bring both on and off the court has allowed their partnership to flourish, and ultimately culminated in Woodford House making the final of the Lower North Island B Grade Tournament, Qualifying for A Grade in 2019. The team also won the Plate Final for the 2018 Hawke’s Bay Netball Competition and won Team of the Year at the 2018 Woodford House Sports Awards.

Briar has previously represented Hawke’s Bay in the NPC senior side and Otane in the Hawke’s Bay club competition. As a defender, Briar has a great ability to read the game and her hands-on approach with a number of Woodford House teams has been extremely beneficial for the girls.

Lisa has coached Hawke’s Bay representative sides from 2013 and has also been the recipient of the New Zealand Netball Community Coach Award and New Zealand Netball Performance Coach Award. Lisa has also attended the New Zealand Netball Secondary School training camp and trials as an apprentice coach. This camp included high performance lectures and coaching development training provided by New Zealand Netball. The learning and skills attained at this camp have been actively applied to the Senior Premier team at Woodford House with very positive results.

1st XI Hockey 2019

Our 1st XI Hockey team welcomes back last year’s coach Rachel Cornwall, who will be working in conjunction with our new 2019 Head Coach, Emily Gaddum (nee Naylor).

Emily is one of New Zealand’s most distinguished female hockey players with an international career spanning 12 years and a total of 274 games for the national team. Emily is the most capped New Zealand women’s hockey player and was also named New Zealand Hockey’s Women’s Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. For the Woodford House 1st XI squad to be able to learn from Emily’s extensive experience and harness her passion for hockey, 2019 promises to be a memorable year for all involved with the team.

1st XI Football 2019

Patryk Misik will be taking over from Fergus Neil as the new Head Coach of the Woodford House 1st XI Football team. Patryk has been playing for the 2019 ASB Premiership Champions, Eastern Suburbs, over the summer and is back in Hawke’s Bay to play for the Napier City Rovers.

A Canada U20 and U23 international, Patryk has had European contracts with Slask Wroclaw in Polish top-flight football, as well as SD Ordenes in Spain. In 2017, he played for Canada in the Aspire U23 tournament in Qatar.

Patryk led the 2018 Woodford House 1st XI team during a very successful tournament week and has some exciting new initiatives and plans that he hopes to implement in 2019.
