Student wins Hawke’s Bay French Association Art Competition


Each March the Hawke’s Bay French Association in combination with the Alliance Française Association hosts the French Film Festival.

Michelle's winning posterA series of excellent films were shown at the Cinema Gold theatre in Havelock North and to advertise the event, a schools art competition is held. This year’s theme was a French holiday destination. Michelle Kim in Year 11 designed a postage stamp image of the Eiffel Tower, which was the winning entry.

She won a beautiful book for the school about the Impressionist Artists from Humanities Bookshop Hastings, a book about Astérix, the Belgian cartoon character, from Poppy’s Bookshop in Havelock North for herself, free tickets for herself and her teacher to attend a showing of ‘Astérix and the House of the Gods’, as well as a Lindt Easter egg.

Members of the Year 11 French class also attended ‘Elle l’adore’ to experience French cinema and be immersed in the language and culture.
