HBSS Team
On 6 March two Woodford House teams competed in the Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Team Triathlon Championships. Both teams can be extremely proud of their achievements in very strong fields. The Junior team finished 4th and the senior team finished 5th. Congratulations to the following students and a special mention to Zoe Elliott who recorded the 3rd fastest run leg for all senior girls teams which is a huge achievement.

HBSS Individual
Congratulations to Alia Wentz, Year 12 who took second place in the Senior Girls category at the HBSS Individual Triathlon Championships on 24 March.

Rowing
Georgia Niblett had great success representing Hawke’s Bay at the 2019 NZ Rowing Championship where she received a bronze medal in the woman’s novice coxed eight.
Equestrian
St Matthews Collegiate Equestrian Event
On Wednesday 20 February, Anna Wilson (Year 8) and Jessica McCann (Year 9) attended the St Matthew’s Interschool Equestrian Event. The girls gave a strong performance, fending off some very good combinations to win a class each and other placings, taking home an overall ribbon. Along with Dannevirke High School, they also achieved an overall 2nd and 3rd in the teams competition.
Dannevirke Equestrian Event
Great results for Giorgia Hickey, Jessica McCann, Milly Waldin and Anna Wilson who competed at the Dannevirke Interschool Equestrian Competition. All four students won an individual event, multiple placings and the mixed team were named overall Champions.
Takapoto Estate Show Jumping
There was more success for our equestrian team members with Zara Waldin, Year 12 winning the Junior Tour Final on 2 March at the Takapoto Estate Show Jumping event aboard U Can Dance NZPH.

HOY
Congratulations to Olivia Apatu on her outstanding achievement at the Horse of the Year Show. Olivia and her pony – Alasaan Arzu, won the Farmlands Pony of the Year crown for a second straight year.

Orienteering
Orienteering HBSS Sprint
It was a very successful day for our orienteering team at the Hawke’s Bay Sprint Championships, with Woodford House students winning three of the girls categories.

Tennis
Christie Cup
Over the summer holidays sisters Samantha and Alex Cave were part of the Hawke’s Bay senior tennis team who won the Christie Cup. This is an incredible achievement as the cup has been going since 1926 and Hawke’s Bay have only held it twice in the last 36 years.
Annual Quadrangular Tennis Tournament
Congratulations to Year 9 students, Tamzin Buck, Alex Cave and Sophie Ward who were part of the Under 14 Tennis Eastern Team who won the annual quadrangular tournament against Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Western Bay of Plenty on Sunday 24 February for the first time ever in 37 years.
