Academy and Teams

Physical preparation and leadership development are the foundation of the Woodford House Sports Academy. Selection is based on sporting results, performance, development and a passion for sport. Through the Academy, girls come into contact with elite sports people as role models, guest speakers and mentors. Learning covers a range of athlete development topics including goal setting, time management, nutrition, leadership and psychology plus working with strength and conditioning coaches.

Our focus teams including Premier Netball, 1st XI Football and 1st XI Hockey regularly compete and excel at local and national level. Our girls are proud to represent their school and rise to the challenge to work to the best of their ability in a team environment.

Leadership in Sport

Sport is an integral part of education and growth at Woodford House where girls are encouraged to participate in sports and recreation pursuits throughout the year. Our girls are actively involved in personal goal-setting where performance, challenge and improvement are key objectives.

From an individual and team perspective, our girls set the very highest standards supported by state-of-the-art facilities and the opportunities to succeed.

Our top coaching staff includes ex-national athletes and champions from backgrounds in athletics, football, hockey and netball.

Health and Fitness

A healthy body and mind is a core focus at Woodford House and we encourage girls to embrace ‘wellness’ through healthy lifestyle choices. We value the roles health and fitness play in keeping our students happy and feeling positive. By accepting responsibility for their health, girls work towards building confidence, self-esteem and pride in everything they do.

Our coaches keep up-to-date with the latest advances in sport education. The  ‘Wellness’ programme aims to deliver a range of physical activity options to students outside team sports including Groove, Yoga, Strength and Conditioning, Crossfit, Diving, Activate and Tennis Lessons.

Education Outside the Classroom

Discovery is at the heart of our outdoor education programme. Activities include Mountain Biking, Rafting, Bush Craft/Tramping, Alpine Tramping, Skiing, Surfing, Rock Climbing, Tubing. Year 10 girls take part in an annual trip to the Hillary Outdoors Tongariro Centre where they experience a huge array of outdoor environments and challenges.
