Learning Conversations with Parents

ih_sept2015_dol1Conferencing between teachers, students and parents provides rich opportunities for learning and growth. Please join us for Year 11 – 13 Parent-Teacher-Student-Interviews (PTSI) scheduled for Sunday, 11 October from 1.30-3.00pm in the Hodge Classrooms.

In the end of Term 3 senior reports staff will have indicated if it is ‘advised’ or ‘strongly advised’ to see them, but even if they have not you are still welcome to make appointments with your daughter’s teachers (information regarding making appointments will go home with the reports). The aim of these interviews is to strengthen home-school relationships so together we can develop students who have the capacity to set challenging goals, have learning conversations and prepare independently. Students’ chances of success in school are strengthened if there is a three way partnership between home, school and student.

Interviews are an important opportunity to receive feedback, assess progress in achieving goals and set targets for the future. The timing of them allows at least a month for the advice and guidance to be put in place. I look forward to seeing many families actively engaged in learning conversations with classroom teachers.
