On 23 August, a group of Woodford, Iona and Lindisfarne boarders volunteered to mulch the newly planted trees near Paki Paki for the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council.
Like people, trees need lots of maintenance in order to keep them alive. Mulching the trees ensure they stay warm, their roots moist and it protects them from things that may damage them. The Woodford girls and I worked extremely hard to ensure that the job was done properly and done well. After the job was completed we all felt tired, but good knowing that we have given back to the Hawke’s Bay community. I look forward to returning to Paki Paki to see how much the trees have grown.
