Co-Curriculum

Cultural

Overview

Academia is a cornerstone of Woodford House and we achieve outstanding results at all levels. Core subjects in the junior school flow into a broad range of optional subjects within the senior school. Academic pursuits are balanced with co-curricular sports and performing arts as well as a full range of opportunities and experiences.

Art

This is a core subject to Year 9. In Years 10 and 11 it is offered as an option alongside Graphics. In Years 12 and 13 we offer a range of Art subjects including Photography, Printmaking and Painting.

Business Studies

At Year 10 Business Studies is optional which then flows into senior Economics and Accounting at Years 11, 12 and 13.

Drama

This is a core subject until Year 11. Performing Arts is a big part of the life of our School throughout the year levels.

English

English courses aim to cater to student diversity, creativity, collaboration, and to foster and reward student curiosity.

Intermediate Department

Years 7 and 8 provide support and guidance as our girls transition into their new school. There are strong links with the secondary school, with access to specialist areas and teachers, like science, food and material technology and the gymnasiums.

Languages

This is a core subject in Years 7, 8 and 9 and flows into optional French and Spanish further on in the School.

Mathematics

This is a core subject up to Year 11. In the senior years Maths is optional with specialist subjects such as Calculus and Statistics available in Year 13.

Music

A core subject in the Intermediate Department, this is optional from Year 10.

Physical Education and Health

This is a core subject to Year 10 and then an optional subject in our senior year levels. Physical Education continues to be an important part of all our girls' learning journey.

Religious Studies

This is a core subject in Years 7, 8 and 9.

Science

This is a core subject to Year 11. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are all offered as optional subjects in Year 12 and 13.

Social Sciences

This is a core subject to Year 10. From Year 11 to Year 13 we offer Geography and History as optional subjects. In Years 12 and 13 we also offer Classical Studies.

Technology

This is a core subject in Years 7 and 8. In other years this is an optional suite of programmes including Food Tech, Textiles, Graphics and Home Economics.
