Woodford House was honoured to host acclaimed business author Anna-Lucia Mackay who visited from Australia early September.
Anna-Lucia is Managing Director of HCM Global Group, an acclaimed educator, author and international consultant in the fields of leadership, business and emotional intelligence.
During the past 20 years, she has consulted, trained and spoken to many of the world’s leading corporations. She is currently a Moderator at Harvard Business School and a sought-after conference speaker and trainer. She is the author of the best-selling book, The Four Mindsets – How to Influence, Motivate and Lead a High Performance Team and has been recognised as a finalist for The Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award in Australia.
During her visit to Woodford House, Anna-Lucia attended a Chapel service and was given a tour of the School. She also spoke to Year 7 and 8 girls about the importance of emotional intelligence.
She emphasised the value of a good education and how knowing oneself on an emotional level is an asset to performing well in today’s world.
Head Prefect Scarlett Neilson and Tauroa Prefect Miriam Stone also met with Anna Lucia who shared insights into her personal and professional journey. Of particular interest, was the fact that Anna-Lucia went into employment during her first years out of school, gaining valuable real-world experience. This highlighted the fact that there are viable alternative options to following the ‘traditional’ route into tertiary education.
Principal Julie Peterson said, “Anna-Lucia is passionate about equipping young people to better understand themselves and how they can nurture effective relationships. It is these skills that are front facing for their futures. We were so fortunate to have Anna-Lucia share her experience and expertise with the girls.”
The School would like to sincerely thank Anna-Lucia for visiting Woodford House.
