Every year Woodford, Lindisfarne and Iona each host a social event for our Year 9 and 10 students.
These are excellent opportunities for students to meet up with their peers and are always eagerly anticipated. Each student pays a small charge to attend and the money collected is used to pay for the costs of the evening. The same model is also used for the Year 7 and 8 social events which are organised between Lindisfarne, Hereworth, Woodford and Iona.
Last year we were extremely fortunate that many of the outside providers who helped with our socials (DJs, lighting technicians, etc) gave their time free of charge so that we were able to put much of the money raised, ($2,000) towards the purchase of an important piece of medical equipment for use in the paediatric department at the Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital. Our junior social committee has chosen to support the hospital each year and over the past five years we have been able to contribute a significant sum of money to this very worthy local cause.
We look forward to continuing our association this year. The first Year 9/10 social for 2015 will be hosted by Lindisfarne College on 12 March.
