WPFA Welcomes Robyn Burns

My first official task as President is to announce our name change. We believe Woodford Parents and Friends Association better reflects our school families and acknowledges the support we receive from the wider community.

I would like to thank our outgoing officeholders for their dedication and for leaving the organisation in such a sound financial and well supported position. Ana, Maree and Dee – you will be missed, but we know you’re not too far away! A special thanks to Debbie Morgan (Treasurer) for completing the final accounts.

You do not need to be a committee member to be part of the Parents and Friends Association – nor do you need to have any commitment! We meet every two months in a very social setting and it’s a fabulous opportunity to learn more about what is happening at school and meet like-minded parents from across the year groups. To quote Ana Ward, “It’s more about friend-raising than fund-raising”.

As a new Year 7 parent last year, I had no idea of the workings of the school and knew very few parents or students! I encourage you to come along when you have a chance. We have a number of parents unable to attend meetings (in particular boarding parents) but who are keen to be involved with the odd event such as year group drinks, etc, when they can.

Being a relative newbie to Woodford I look forward to meeting more of you soon. A special thanks to our wonderful parents who continue to be involved – your knowledge and ongoing support is most appreciated.
