Woodford House is an innovative boarding and day school for girls that provides safe, challenging and holistic educational experiences and encourages individual excellence, citizenship, independence and global connectedness.
We are an interdenominational school closely affiliated to the Anglican church and under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Waiapu. The special character of Woodford House revolves around our chapel and our spirituality in the Christian faith. Our services are enriched by principles of charity, honesty, tolerance and commitment.
Our chapel was completed in 1928 and dedicated to St Francis of Assisi. It stands as the jewel of our school grounds. It is here that our Chaplain leads weekly services for all students. Many families attend regular evening worship. The Chapel is used extensively in the life of the School, as well as for baptism and memorial services, and Woodford House Old Girl weddings.
To Woodford House students, teachers, parents and our community at large, this maxim drives our core values – Attitude, Family and Heritage, in our day-to-day lives:
Challenge the Future – Simply, we define “Attitude” as having our mindsets forward and upwards. With this “Attitude” there is nothing but clear skies and unlimited potential. The end result? At Woodford House, we encourage young women to be strong, spirited and resilient.
Embrace the Present – Our values very much revolve around “Family”. We provide a nurturing environment where students have the support and back-up to feel safe and cared for at all times. By providing and actively encouraging generosity, kindness and respect, our students are in the best state mentally, physically and spiritually to perform at their peak. This is an infectious attitude amongst our teachers and students alike; it is key to making students feel not only accepted but respected.
Cherish the Past – This is the foundation of our reputation and tradition, and is highly celebrated. It is this heritage that instils a sense of collective pride and identity in both our staff and students. With this as the backbone of any endeavour, our students feel confident that they have the strength and experience of the School’s entire history behind them as a solid, unshakeable support.
At Woodford House, everything we do is aimed at building an environment where our girls can achieve their learning potential in a place that is exceptional, exciting and creative: A place where they can grow to become 21st Century learners and global citizens; a place where they can seize opportunities, and where they are nurtured and loved.
The school grounds are peaceful and picturesque; it's very relaxing. I like walking in the hills and seeing the animals; it all adds to the character. A big thing about being at Woodford is it's very safe. I can walk through town with friends and never worry.
I have really loved coming to a new country and being part of the Woodford community. There are always friends around me, lots of conversations and music, it's really fun!

I very much enjoy the discussions we have in class. They have really helped me with my English and they are fun. I enjoy New Zealand life very much and have made lots of good friends here. I have learned so much from the people here at Woodford.
