Wanganui Exchange

I think it was the first time this year I had arrived at school while it was still dark. At 7am on Wednesday 30 June close to 30 girls travelled to Wanganui to play against some old rivals. As a few of us remembered, we were up against girls who we had last played in Year 8!

Woodford House triumphed over the Wanganui 1st XI Hockey team, Senior Premier Netball and Junior Premier Netball teams. At the end of it all, it was fair to say that the eight hours of travelling that day paid off.

The hockey girls had a nail-biting game against the Wanganui Collegiate 1st XI Girls Hockey team with Woodford House coming out on top with a 3-2 win. The Senior Premier Netball team played magnificently, winning 22-8 and our Junior Premier Netball team had a brilliant game, just short of a win.

Overall, it was a great trip, giving all students a chance to play teams out of the region as well as preparing us for the winter tournament coming up next term. Every game widens our experience and we are still in the early stages of the season. The whole trip was brilliantly coordinated by the sports departments of both schools.
