Director of Performing Arts

A rare opportunity has become available for a visionary educator at an innovative boarding and day school for girls in Years 7–13. Woodford House seeks a passionate teacher who is forward-thinking, dynamic and committed to shaping the lives of young women.

Situated in beautiful Hawke’s Bay, Woodford House is a boutique special character school that prides itself on academic excellence with outstanding results in NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3.

The Director of Performing Arts will have a significant role within the School and as such reports directly to the Principal.  This role encompasses administration, management and teaching (hours as required).

The Director of Performing Arts will lead the School’s curricular and co-curricular programmes with specific responsibility for the performance music programme.

The successful applicant will have the skills to lead and further develop the cultural cornerstone whilst striving to achieve excellence in every context.  Experience in the performing arts is critical, with strength in performance music preferred. The Director of Performing Arts will enjoy working in the new Dame Kate Harcourt Performing Arts Centre, a purpose-built Performing Arts facility, opened in 2017.

The successful applicant will be a problem-solver, an effective communicator and confident in making decisions that align with the School’s strategic priorities and vision.

The position involves a teaching component alongside leadership of all aspects of the cultural cornerstone. The position is allocated 2 MU and 1 MMA.
